​​​How does it all work?

1. before the shoot​

Your postpartum story starts in pregnancy with an initial consultation, either via phone or email, where we determine what will work best for your family. We will discuss when you would like your photos to be taken. At the hospital? At home? With siblings, or grandparents? Or as a team of three?​ How long would you like me to visit?

We will book a tentative date based on your due date. When baby arrives, we will schedule your actual shoot day. I will check in with you a couple of days before the shoot to see if the date still suits you. Newborns are precious and fragile and so are new mothers. I like to keep things a little flexible so that you feel fully comfortable and confident on the day.

 

2. On the day

On the day, I will take time to make everyone feel at ease. Postpartum stories are intended to reflect real life. We all know that newborns sleep a lot, and when they are awake they are usually feeding. ​Don't feel pressured to have to pick a window, where you think baby might be awake. I take beautiful photos of sleeping babies.

It is up to you if you would like to dress up baby, or if you prefer plain clothing. I will not bring any props or cute headbands, as I prefer to tell your personal story than impose my taste. If there is a window of an awake baby, it is a lovely opportunity to do a little activity, such as a baby massage, or a baby bath. It is also perfectly fine to just take turns cuddling and walking around the house.

If you have chosen to involve grandparents, siblings, or other loved family members I will take photos in a fly-on-the-wall approach. Capturing meaningful moments of connection between your family and baby.

My full story package involves three separate visits at different stages in the first 8 weeks of your baby's life. It includes a beautiful premium photo book, designed by me, with all of your photos from the three sessions. It is a sacred memento of the story of your baby's arrival.

 

3. receiving your photos

Within fourteen days (one month for the full story package), you will receive your online gallery and download images. You do not have to worry about choosing your favourites since the entire gallery is yours to keep. I deliver your images in high resolution for printing (up to a size of 50x30cm) and in a lower resolution optimised for screens, so you can go ahead and share them with your friends and family. I recommend downloading and saving your photos as soon as possible and saving them in at least two separate locations (cloud, external drive).
